The casino
The Spielbank traces its origins to 1812. Casino Baden-Baden occupies the right wing of the Kurhaus, the classicist spa house that Friedrich Weinbrenner completed in the 1820s. Edouard Bénazet fitted out its gaming rooms in the 1850s with Parisian decorators, and they still set the standard: the Roter Saal modelled on Fontainebleau, the Salon Pompadour and the white Wintergarten. Marlene Dietrich called it the most beautiful casino in the world.
The classic offering is French and American roulette, blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold’em and two poker tables. Blackjack runs on three tables from Sunday to Thursday and six on Friday and Saturday. A separate hall holds more than 130 slot machines, and an additional slot floor has been announced for the Kurhaus.
Admission to the table games is 5 euros and the whole house admits guests only from 21, as Baden-Württemberg law requires. A jacket is required for gentlemen in the classic rooms. A guided tour runs in the morning for anyone who wants to see the rooms before the tables open.
The hotel
Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa is the founding house of the Oetker Collection and has stood in its own park on the Oos since 1872. The hotel reopened in stages in autumn 2025 after a two-year renovation. Around a hundred rooms and suites sit beside the Lichtentaler Allee.
The spa is in the five-floor Villa Stéphanie: a daylight indoor pool that opens onto the park terrace, a 500-square-metre sauna level, a private gym and a medical wing. The hotel holds two Michelin Keys in the 2026 guide, and the casino is a seven-minute walk along the river.
Eating and drinking
At the hotel, Fritz & Felix is the lively main restaurant and the Wintergarten the classic dining room. The Rive Gauche brasserie, the Oleander Bar and the Kaminhalle cover everything from breakfast to a nightcap.
Inside the Kurhaus, The Grill serves from late afternoon until the tables close, and Club Bernstein takes over on Saturday nights. Baden-Baden itself has two Michelin-starred restaurants within a short drive.
The setting
Baden-Baden is one of the UNESCO-listed Great Spa Towns of Europe. An evening can run from the Friedrichsbad or Caracalla thermal baths to a concert at the Festspielhaus, Germany’s largest concert house, and on to the chandeliers of the Kurhaus.
The Lichtentaler Allee, redesigned into a landscape park by the Bénazet family, runs between the hotel and the gaming rooms, so the walk is part of the evening.
